Struggling to Treat Worms in My Chicken!
Hi everyone,
Ive been dealing with worms in one of my hens, and I just cant seem to get rid of them. Ive tried multiple treatments, including praziquantel and fenbendazole, but I keep finding worm segments in the poop.
The hen seems active and healthy but has lost weight, has a very prominent breastbone, and is constantly noisymaybe shes trying to tell me she doesnt feel well?
Im not sure what to try next. Should I use a stronger dose or a different medication? Any advice would be really appreciated!
Thanks!

It sounds like you're on the right track, but dont forget about your coop hygiene! Even with deworming, the environment can keep reinfecting your birds if its not regularly cleaned. Consider switching to a more effective bedding option that wont retain moisture as much.

Have you checked your coop for signs of where the worms might be coming from? They can thrive in damp conditions, so ensuring the area is dry and clean might help in the long run.

Sounds like your hen may have had a more severe worm infestation than you thought. Have you checked for other signs of worms, like weight loss or drooping wings? If youre still seeing segments, you might want to try the higher dose, but be cautious about overdosing.

Have you considered giving her probiotics or adding garlic to her diet? Some natural remedies, like garlic, are known to help fight off internal parasites and may support her during this tough time.

I know it's frustrating, but you might want to try a different dewormer combination. Some chickens can develop resistance to certain medications, so alternating dewormers could be helpful. Have you tried using a combination of Ivermectin and Fenbendazole?

Your situation sounds tricky! If you're unsure about the treatment, it might be worth consulting with a poultry vet who can recommend the best approach based on what worms are present. If she's still active and lively, she may be able to fight off the worms with a little more support.

I had a similar issue with worms in my flock. Sometimes, it takes a couple of rounds with dewormers to fully clear them out. Don't be discouraged; just stick with it and keep track of the poop to see if things improve.

It sounds like you've been dealing with a lot of worm-related issues. I recommend trying a different dewormer like Ivermectin,it works well for a variety of worms and might do the trick.

I had a hen with the same symptoms. What worked for us was a more frequent deworming schedule with smaller doses of medication, spaced out over a few weeks. It seemed to get rid of the worms gradually without overwhelming her system.
