Hi all,
Im new to raising chickens and have a question about growth stages. My chickens are growing really fast, and Im excited to see them develop, but Im curious about when they will reach their full size. Id love to know at what age they stop growing and how much longer theyll be in their baby stage.
Id love to see how your birds looked at different stages of growth! Thanks!

Typically, chickens will reach their full size by around 6 months, but they don't stop developing entirely until 8 months, especially in terms of feathering. For larger breeds, it could be closer to 8 months. Don't be surprised if they still seem a little lanky for the first few months!

The size of your birds at 6 months should be pretty close to their full adult size. However, depending on the breed, they might continue to mature in other ways, such as feather density or weight gain. Larger breeds may take a bit longer to fill out completely. They can still grow a little past 6 months!

My chickens were about 90% grown by 5 months, but I didn't notice them filling out fully until 7 months. The body shape is more defined at that point, but they stop growing so rapidly after 6 months. The combs and wattles also continue to develop until they're about 7 months.

Don't worry, it's normal to have growth slow down around 5-6 months! Chickens will generally reach their full size in height and body weight by this age. However, their feathering and overall body shape might not fully mature until later, around 7-8 months.

It's so exciting to see them grow! My girls were almost at their full size by 6 months, but it's around 7-8 months when they really start filling out. My Sussex was fully grown by 6 months, but they don't get their full adult look until around 8 months, especially with their feathering.

At about 6 months, most chickens reach their full adult size, though it can vary depending on the breed. For example, larger breeds like Orpingtons may take a bit longer to fully mature, around 7-8 months. Smaller breeds like Leghorns can be fully grown by 5 months. You'll likely notice their growth slowing down once they reach this stage.

My chickens are around 5 months old, and I've noticed the biggest growth spurt around the 3-4 month mark. They've slowed down now, and I expect they'll be close to fully grown by 6 months, though some of them might fill out a bit more in the next couple of months.

It depends a lot on the breed. My smaller breeds, like Australorps, reached full size by 5 months, but the larger ones, like Brahmas, were still growing at 8 months! You'll start to see their full adult shape around 5-6 months, but don't be surprised if they continue to mature a bit longer.

My chickens started to slow down in their growth around 5-6 months old. Now, at 8 months, they're mostly full-grown, but they are still filling out a little. I think it's normal for the combs and feathers to get fuller over time. I've heard that the first 6 months is when most of their growth happens.
