Broody hens naturally take breaks. If it's warm out, the eggs will hold heat. Just make sure she gets back to the right nest.

My chickens' foraging cut down on weeds and pests in a huge way. They eat young weed sprouts and keep beetles and grasshoppers in check , it's been amazing!

It sounds like your roosters are showing classic genetic variation. If you want a particular look in future generations, you'll need to selectively breed the rooster with the traits you prefer.

Moss itself is not toxic, but if it's growing in damp or shady areas, it might suggest that your yard is too wet or acidic. Just make sure the chickens have enough dry, healthy ground to scratch in.

One thing to consider is the noise level,some chatty breeds, like Polish or Leghorns, might not be the best for a city backyard. Even friendly birds can have louder personalities, so if quiet is important, stick to breeds known for their calm demeanor, like Brahmas, Orpingtons, or Silkies.

It sounds like you're doing a great job experimenting with different feed options! Some chickens just take longer to adjust to fermented feed. You might try mixing a bit of dry feed into the fermented batch to ease the transition.

I found that adding herbs like mint and rosemary to the run helped keep things smelling fresher. I toss fresh clippings in when I clean, and my girls enjoy scratching through them.

Since you're already using Tylosin and not seeing improvement, I would take a closer look at their environment. Dusty bedding can worsen respiratory infections, so try switching to something less dusty for now.
