Some eggs in the carton might be fertile while others aren't. Candle them on day 5-7, and remove any clears to avoid bad eggs contaminating the good ones.

Consider putting a tarp or cloth over the dust bath area to prevent it from getting too dry and dusty. You could also try changing the materials. Try a mixture of sand, dirt, and some leaves to make the texture less powdery and reduce the dust.

If the symptoms started after introducing the shavings, I'd suggest removing them completely and switching to a different bedding material, like straw or hemp, to see if their condition improves.

Since they have the same parents, they share many of the same genes, but not in identical ways. Their offspring could inherit traits from either rooster, and some might even look more like their grandparents!

I start giving mine treats like sunflower seeds around 7 weeks, just in small amounts. Shelled and crushed seeds work best for younger chicks.
